Sacrament of Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation.
The Holy Spirit deepens and strengthens our Baptismal life and commitment through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Together with Baptism and the Eucharist, Confirmation brings us fully into the life and mission of Jesus as lived by the Church. More about Confirmation.
Preparation for Catholic Adults is based on life experience and previous learning. The plan for preparation is developed according to the needs of the individual who desires to be confirmed.
Personal Experience of being Confirmed as an Adult
Dave was baptized Catholic as a baby but due to some family circumstances was not confirmed in his youth. After not actively practicing the Catholic Faith, for some years, he returned to it and was confirmed in 2014.
The Holy Spirit gives me strength to help me try to walk in Jesus’ footsteps as he taught us. I shall stumble and fall. But with God’s grace, he lifts me up to do his work in serving others. I have grown closer to God over the past few years after being away from the Church all my adult life even though I was baptized Catholic as a baby. I am very much more at peace. I don’t worry so much about things. Living one day at a time seems to be a good pace for me. I see God everywhere. I am awed by nature. God is love. Since being confirmed in 2014, I have gotten more involved in parish life, like volunteering for the Lenten Fish Fry’s, and being commissioned as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. I serve at Mass and take Holy Communion to a home bound person regularly. The people here in the parish are like family to me and I keep meeting new people.
