No, the society serves those in need, regardless of creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender or political opinions.
Is SVDP a part of St. Joseph's Catholic Church?
No, our Society is a legally autonomous organization. We are considered a "charitable organization" and operate for that specific purpose. As such, SVDP is tax exempt under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). While several SVDP members attend St. Joseph Catholic Church, and we fulfill a church mission of helping those in need, the society is separate from this church, both in decision-making and financially.
Do I need to commit to full-time attendance at SVDP meeting or SVDP efforts in order to become a member?
No, ACTIVE members are those who participate regularly in meetings and charitable activities. However, those who are unable to regularly attend meetings or regularly engage in the works of the Society, are accepted as Associate members.
Is there an age limit for SVDP membership?
No, young adults to seniors elders are encouraged to become members.
