Msgr. Micheal Hazard will soon be “Pastor Emeritus”

Msgr. Michael Hazard, our “homegrown” priest and long-time pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church will soon be changing his status to Pastor Emeritus when he officially retires in July from his pastoral duties after 28 years of faithful ministry. How could he have ever known, as a small child sitting in his 1st grade classroom at St. Joseph elementary school in Kalamazoo that he would enter the seminary at only 14 years old, and then take a journey that would lead him into the priesthood, (ordained in 1972) and through various assignments, but ultimately back to his hometown parish of St. Joseph. He was also the very first priest ordained for the newly created Diocese of Kalamazoo. It has been God’s gift to have Msgr. Mike with us as our spiritual leader all these years… and now as a bonus, he will reside in retirement at St. Joseph parish rectory, staying near and dear to us. All who know him….appreciate his compassionate heart…and as he moves into his “retired” role, ministering the sacraments at local hospitals and serving as needed…we join together to THANK HIM and WISH HIM WELL. Please come to a celebration in Msgr. Mike’s honor on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm in the St. Joseph Parish Bennett gym and share some memories and fun!
